CENTRAL, SC (FOX Carolina) – Southern Wesleyan University will officially break ground Tuesday on a new four-story residence hall at the Central campus.

The 67,000 square-foot hall will accommodate 243 students and include space for a large lobby with a bistro, fitness rooms, a theater, and a conference room, the university said in a news release.

“Southern Wesleyan seeks to continually reinforce three pillars of uniqueness – inventive learning, faith-filled community and contagious generosity,” Ed Welch, SWU’s Director of Communications stated in a news release. “This new facility on SWU’s campus will be conducive in exercising these institutional characteristics.”

Welch said the $9.3 million project will create numerous jobs and expand Pickens County’s economic impact footprint.
