J Davis Construction is committed to providing a safe work environment for our employees, clients, and general public in the execution of all projects. We have a comprehensive safety program which has been audited and approved through a rigorous process by Avetta (formerly PICS), of which we have been a member since 2011.
J Davis Construction office and field performance executed 250,000 self-perform work hours in 2013-2015. During that time, the company experienced a significant decrease in the EMR rating from a high of 1.16 to a 0.79, representing a thirty-two percent improvement.
J Davis Construction has also maintained a 0.00 Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), Lost Workday Case Rate (LWCR), and Days Away Restricted or Transfer rate (DART). Successfully managing health and safety issues to the lowest possible risk levels is an essential component of strategy and is integral to the way J Davis Construction does business. At J Davis, we continue to strive to be one of the safest contractors in the industry, and we thoroughly evaluate any cases that occur to immediately identify areas for improvement.
J Davis Construction has built a culture of safety in which all employees, ranging from upper management to crew members, are involved in safety decisions and improvements, and are consistently empowered to make decisions that will improve our safety practices.
Total Quality Management
Davis Construction has developed a Total Quality Management Plan that focuses on three goals for each project: zero defects, complete client satisfaction, and continuous improvement. Each project also utilizes four phases for every TQM plan including, define, control, analyze, and improve.
For each project a customized TQM plan is established (define) based upon the needs of the project and any special conditions. These needs always include an analysis of the design documents with an emphasis on water intrusion and coordination of materials and building components. These documents may also include long term durability, specific aesthetic requirements, schedule constraints, construction around ongoing operations, and other additional factors.
Once the needs are defined, the TQM plan develops a process (control) by which the project will be monitored to ensure all goals of the project are met every time. This phase includes pre-placement meetings for critical work, internal inspections, third party inspections, and expert consultants as needed.
Throughout the construction process the TQM plan is reviewed (analyze) for its effectiveness. The TQM plan is consistently reviewed through the project and any changes made are necessary and immediately instituted (improve).
J. Davis Construction’s Total Quality Management Plan also extends to a continuous investment in its employee’s development and improvement. J. Davis Construction has implemented an apprenticeship program through the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) in which every employee participates. With a standardized curriculum for each craft area, some requiring more than 250 individual hours of training and education, J Davis Construction can provide highly educated and skilled craft workers and managers for any project.
